That's really it. I spent decades working, and when it stopped I figured I'd enjoy the quiet. Turns out the quiet gets old faster than the job did.
I'd always read a lot — news, history, travel writing, whatever was on the nightstand — and somewhere along the way I thought: I could do that. Not professionally, not for anyone in particular. Just to have somewhere to put the things I was thinking about.
So I built this site, learned more about the internet than I ever expected to, and started writing. No agenda. No brand strategy. Just a retired guy with an opinion and too much free time.
